Collingwood Beach Dune Moton UPDATE

The Collingwood Beach dune motion (CL26.192) was addressed briefly at the 25 August Shoalhaven Council meeting, but has been deferred to the next Ordinary Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday 22nd September 2026

Before the deferral, Cr Casmiri opened with a video presentation which was screened for a short time before Cr Tribe raised a point of order, noting the material risked bringing Council into disrepute. The video was stopped shortly after it began and the meeting was closed. The unverified video included allegations about ‘misinformed’ dune-care groups and implied Council-supported vegetation work was harmful.

VCF is concerned about the incorrect or misleading claims made in the video, including statements about Collingwood Beach’s vegetation, dune zones and historical rehabilitation. We are seeking clarification from Council on:

• the origin and authorship of the video
• the veracity of the claims presented
• and how the allegations align with NSW coastal management guidance and Council’s own technical studies.

Residents concerned about the video presentation or the motion itself are encouraged to contact Council directly, or share your concerns with VCF so we can include them in our submission ahead of the next meeting.  you can view the meeting live stream here
